What we paint

Cabinets are their own thing
Painting cabinets is not painting walls with smaller brushes. Cabinet doors get touched every single day, they get wiped, they get bumped, and they get grease on them. Every step skipped in the prep, every bit of degreasing not done, every coat rushed, turns into a chip within months and there is nowhere for it to hide.
Done properly, though, painted cabinets are the single highest-impact thing you can do to a kitchen without demolishing it.
Color, sheen, and the stuff people forget
Sheen matters more than most people expect. Flat hides imperfections but cannot be scrubbed. Eggshell and satin take cleaning and are the workhorses for most rooms. Semi-gloss belongs on trim and in bathrooms. Choosing wrong means a wall that looks great and cannot be wiped, which in a hallway with kids is not really a win.
